So yesterday the furnace guy calls to say that although it's installed, he needs to come over and run a bunch of tests. They're here now. First he made me go down to my nasty ass craw space so he could show me everything. OMG I never want to go down there again but apparently someone will have to change the filter once a month (I'm electing Scott for that duty RIGHT NOW). There's tarp covering the entire area and under that is DIRT. I could be one of those crazy serial killers who takes their victims home, kills them and then buries then in the dirt crawl space. Plus the ladder is scary and the hole to get down there is in the hall closet floor. And the height down there is like 4 feet. They made me open every window and then cranked the heat up to 90 for about 20 mins. Then they made me CLOSE every window and suffer the fumes for another 20 minutes. Now they're done with the furnace but for some reason he has to also check my water heater. Something about a pipe to the furnace running through it which now gives him license to drill fucking holes into my water heater ducts to run his tests which I can already tell are going to fail and he's going to want more money to fix.
The guy and his assistant (who I believe must be his son) are very nice, respectful and helpful but I want them done with this crap. They were nice enough to put in a gorgeous new digital thermostat which I appreciate very much. Now give me back my house and leave me alone!
