Writing about the speech class I took is important to me because it helped me overcome my fear of speaking in front of crowds. Considering I want to be a teacher when I am older, it is basically necessary for me to have that ability.  Although I had somewhat dreaded the class, it ended up being one of my favorites I took in high school and helped validate my desire to teach someday! No matter what my topic of discussion was, people were always listening and the attention was focused primarily on me, which had been out of my comfort zone at the time.  Because the class was containing people from all four grades, I gained friendships from the class that I could have otherwise missed out on. Not only did speaking in front of people improve my self-esteem and courage, but my words also caught the eye (or should I say ear) of my current boyfriend, Michael. AWW! That speech class will remain in my memory most likely for the rest of my life.
