The weirdest-ass co-option since Bob Dylan sold hygiene products continues apace. You'll recall Oklahoma City mayor Mick Cornett, "whose humble nature, intense work ethic and optimistic attitude have become emblematic of a city that, as Cornett says, 'works hard and dreams big'" (from his official page, where he's pictured conferring jovially with Newt Gingrich and Vice-President Cheney). Oklahoma City's own Grammy Award-winning Flaming Lips once asked, in their hit song of the same name: "Do you realize that you have the most beautiful face?" Well, with apologies to Wayne Coyne, I ask you today, do you realize that we live in the most beautiful place? (applause)
