I watched 80's Transformers last Saturday at Metrotown. xD. It was awesome to watch it, so awesome that I ended up calling Lance on my cellophane.
So last night I showed my mom G1 Optimus Prime on this collage I made (G1 Prime is on the top left). I thought that surely Transformers was known in Guangzhou in the 80's, and sure enough she seems to recognize Prime. So I continued babbling about the live-action movie to her and I'll show it to her and that it's something she has never seen before.
This morning, while I was watching Transformers Animated (yes, I know. I'm a big nerd), my mom happened to sat down and watch what I was watching while eating homemade pizza. And there I go saying that the cars transform. After the show was finished, I quickly got the movie into the DVD and showed her the scene where we see Prime transform for the first time.
What was funny is that she thought Shia LaBeouf looked like this Chinese star she knows about.
So, Prime stops in front of Sam and Mikaela, and starts transforming. My mom got amazed. I showed her the highway scene and she was going all "WAH!" when she saw Bonecrusher and Prime transform and fight, completely enthralled. I show her the crazy climax battle in the city, there she goes again: "WAH!" on Devastator (in vehicle form) crushing cars, "WAH!" at the Jazz-transforms-and-jumps-onto-Devastator-who-also-transforms, "WAH!" at Ironide-transforming-and-flipping-in-the-air-above-some-random-female. Completely enthralled of what's happening. She even said something about it being like a terrorist attack or whatever because of all those explosions and dangerous-ness depicted. XD
There were tiny moments where she wanted to do some housework but I stopped her and made her continue watching the action. xD
And what's also amusing is that she thinks the transformations resembles an Octopus shifting around.
