The Rock

http://latiera.livejournal.com/826.html

Leahalani sat looking at the rock. It lay still and quiet in her hands. She frowned at it and then looking around to see if any could see, she called to it once more. It lay, still and quiet in her hands. Maybe Tehrannis was right? Maybe when Nelerath had kicked her in the head, he had done damage? She rubbed the back of her had thoughtfully.

She reached back to toss the rock into the bay. But just as suddenly, she dropped her hand back into her lap staring at it once more? What had compelled her last evening? Was the rock enchanted?
She tried hard to remember.

She had been outside the Inn in Menethil about to head for the boat to Auberdine when she had felt her pack shift on her back. She had ignored it at first but then she had been certain there had been movement. She had tossed her pack to the ground only to hear a muffled, "hnmmmmf"

Leahalani had jumped back staring at her pack. With her sword, she had carefully opened it and saw the rock. It had sparkled with light and then said. "What did you do that for?"

Leahalani stared at the rock laying in her hand, that was still and quiet. It had not been a dream. She knew it had spoken last evening. The more she concentrated, the more she could remember. It had told her that Chiabella was in trouble in Stormwind. Despite the fact she had just left there, the next thing she knew, she was back on the griffin winging back towards Stormwind. She didn't remember deciding to go. She didn't remember walking to the griffin. The only thing she remembered was the rock's incessant chatter. It had told some ludicrous story about being a captain on a boat that the Paladin, Yearus or something like that, had been on. She didn't remember much else until landing in Stormwind.

She had ran through the trade district as if wolves nipped upon her heels. The rock still telling it's story about how it had been turned into a rock and it was connected to the Paladin that had chucked it at her. She also didn't remember putting that rock in her pack though she remembered dodging it? She had turned to head into the mage quarters and practically ran into Chiabella and Ivyssa. They stood faced off with Elvorn and the dark rogue she had seen falling Masysuki about. Elvorn had turned on her, to do damage. But Ivyssa had intervened and told her to fetch Thelesar.

It was then, she had even less memory. She remembered running to guide Thelesar. She remembered the rock demanding she hold it and she had stopped her frantic flight to do so. She remembered being back at the bridge and the rock demanding she described what she saw. And then, she remembered Chiabella asking how she came to be there?

She had answered Chiabella and even as it had left her lips, she had realized how ridiculous it sounded. "A rock bid me to come." The next thing she remembered, she was once more in her bed in Astranaar. She had no memory of what had ended in Stormwind. She had no memory of returning home.

She stared at the rock that lay in her hand, still and quiet once more. "Hello?" She called once again. She reached back to toss it into the bay. But, as before, she found she could not do it. She wrapped it gently in linen and put it in her pack. She got up to head for Stormwind and paused with confusion?

Why was she here? What had she been doing? She looked around, concerned for she did not remember how she came to stand there. Shrugging, she headed once more to catch a boat.
