So am I scared of being in a rock band? Of the act of rocking itself? Am I too much of an alt.country faggot? What is the deal, here?

I want loud fucking drums and thick bass and keyboards and crunchy Westerberg guitar. Is Superdrag not one of my favorite bands? GBV? I can write rock songs. Why don't I? It's not about posturing, either. Fuck me. No more of this shit. It's time to step this thing up.

We are playing some damn fine alt.country tonight at the Downtown Brewing Company in SLO. The show starts at 9pm with a set by Ephraim of Siko fame and then we hit the stage at 9:30ish. But then you'll want to stick around for one of the best SLO bands of all Joose! Its only $3 so I hope to see everyone there.

Cheers!

I want to start an alt.country band.

Lloyd said he'd play drums.

I need to find a violinist, or two. Or three.

But I don't know what I want to play yet.

I have found something that makes the Bawdy Brahmin even better.

Frozen. Raspberries.

Oh my num.

It also helps if you are listening to angry alt.country while licking mascarpone cheese off your fingers, but I realize that is neither here, nor there, nor vaguely SCA related (unless mascarpone is period, which it may well be.)

Oh, man. I'm so glad BoingBoing is keeping up with melodic rap covers you can download.

I really, really needed an alt.country cover of Public Enemy's "Bring the Noise." (So do you, in case you're wondering.)

off to berlin!

it's kind of sad how much time I spent on revamping my ipod nano playlist as compared to how much time I spent actually packing. ^^:; for a while it was a bit overly 'all i listen to is young people's dance and alt.country ON HOES I AM RONAN' (...that's about the greatest typo I've made all year).

have a good weekend, dudes.

There had never been such a time for music. So much soulful "alt.country" ... it's just amazing.

Tonight's session has included some lovely bluesy, southern stuff from Charlie Sexton, Shannon McNally and, tinged with jazz, Norah Jones.

My latest entry for the CityBeat blog is on Scientology - it's even crazier than I remember.

Also, the alt.country music site I did for one of my papers, Alt.Country Calendar, is now online. Of course, it's a li
