Ahh, another NetApp day.
We (uni) have a new NetApp 3050 cluster at uni with 12 TB space. It'll be used for students storage as well as Exchange. Shelves from the old filer (a FAS920) will be moved to our FAS940 storage server (and vfiler host), two more shelves added new, to give another 12 TB. Yay.

NetApp interview: Interview complete; we'll see how it goes, I got a neutral feeling at the end of it.
Verisign: Phone interview went excellent, in person interview pending scheduling.
If I get the job at NA it's going to be insane, I'll have to be professional certified in <3 months, and PSE certified in 6 months, but ohh man it would be awesome.

Network Appliances ("NetApp") and Sun Microsystems ("Sun") are in a battle to the death over the Z Filesystem. Sun recently released ZFS open source (with a deliberately GPL-unfriendly license, c'est la vie, but I can at least get SGI's XFS on Linux, and use ZFS for my home datastore under BSD) and NetApp is suing them, claiming that Sun's using ZFS for anything other than Sun's own closed-source workstation operati

Sun sues NetApp
NetApp thinks that Sun's Zettabyte File System (ZFS) infringes its patents, while Sun contends that most of NetApp's major products infringe its intellectual property. Sun has flagged six troublesome patents and sued NetApp over them in a Silicon Valley district court.
