it snowed here in philly and throughout the northeast saturday night into sunday afternoon. we got, i believe, 18 inches of snow in our area. for me, being from 1/2-inch-of-snow-closes-the-highways-Norfolk, Va.... it was alot of snow. it was quite an odyssey getting to Sunday Mass; traunching through the snow and then getting stuck in the snow, while inside our van. Fr joseph using only the skill that Fath

ok.... I'm here at my desk, in my 'cell', looking out of my window and watching the snow come down pretty heavily. I am not absolutely sure of the amount of snow we are supposed to be getting. I was listening to the radio in the car this morning -- some radio station in South Jersey -- and according to them, we can expect 8-12 inches (i think, though, that, that was directed toward those in South Jersey). If I wan

i'm sitting here watching the Superbowl.... my intention this evening was to be entertained by the commericals, which typically are a combination of humour, piggishness and general 'good-naturedness'. this year, though, the commericals have been pretty lame. so, my time watching the superbowl has been marked by some boredom, mixed in with some classic, American munching on pizza, chips, veggies and dip, beer and so

well, well, well... the prez gave his state of the union speech, alito was confirmed to the SCUSA. It is my hope, now, that certain laws will be repealed because of the unconstitutional basis on which they were decided -- for those that know me, I don't have to explicitly state that these laws revolve around Abortion and other life issues. Now that Alito has been confirmed by the Senate, it seems that the work that

It's been a few days -- almost a week -- since I've updated this journal.... In that time, I went to the pro-life march in DC. It was the 33rd anniversary of the tragic Roe v. Wade decision in 1973, which allowed for legalized abortion within the US. I had never been to the pro-life march before. My only experience of it was watching the rally on C-SPAN over the last couple of years. On Sunday, there was a Vigil

Whooooo.... man I'm tired. It feels good to finally sit down in the recliner, with my feet up. Now, I'm watching Smallville -- actually, the show is on the tv and I just happen to be in the same room. fr. joseph returned from his exotic trip to tropical leroy, ny. i imagine that he had a fabulous time -- ahem.... u be the judge of that, if you know anything about leroy. i have never been there; but, this past su

Priest curbs funeral remarks
By Kevin Eigelbach Post staff reporter ADVERTISEMENT
Beware, all you would-be eulogists. A priest at a Fort Mitchell church has put his foot down: No more "words of remembrance" at funerals.
The Rev. Dan Vogelpohl, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church, made that decision at the end of last year, and imposed the ban effective Jan. 1.
