Link. I saw this procedure once on Dirty Jobs. Lemme tell you...gross.
Speaking of cats...anybody want a couple of cats? One is terrified of it's own shadow, and the other likes to piss on the floor just to make you clean it up. I want to trade up to a dog.
Yeah, I said it. Dog is greater than Cat.

...I would patent a computer system to accept orders over the internet. Send a text message to the customer when their order is ready so they can get in the drive-through line. Then their identity/order would be authenticated through their credit card. A simple swipe, and the cashier can fetch the order. Quick, efficient, and completely doesn't require human communication.
My particular thought was for

Pictures!
Vermont was pretty awesome. I seriously did so much exercising, I think I'm good for the rest of the year. We did some biking, rowing, and hiking. It's VT, you gotta be outdoorsy.
Also, we took a day trip to Montreal, so there are some pictures in there.

Topping my christmas wishlist are two items. A portable media player, and this. Why do I want this POS computer? Small formfactor, daylight readable display, rugged design (it's for kids...that might not have a fully functional roof), and hand crank recharger.
I think the XO is winning, as I've been able to listen to my MP3 collection w/o a portable playe

I got a parking ticket for parking on the sidewalk. Excuse me, what? 50% of the cars in my neighborhood parks on the sidewalk. You know what the other 50% do? They make it difficult to drive because the road is too narrow to support cars parked on both sides of the road and have ONE lane of traffic. Fine, you know what? that's great, let's see the plan to make the development full of ONE WAY STREETS because you

So, I've taken three hits to my ego lately, all of which concern work. So naturally I'm a bit nervous about posting about it here, but then again I'd be pretty candid about this stuff if you were my coworker and asked.
A while back there was that silly meeting where I won that DVD player. At that meeting the rewards & recognition teem had a few slides for people that exhibit leadership, and people that s

Well, I did it! I built the chair I said I would build before the summer was over. Well ahead of schedule, but waaaaaaay over budget. Seriously, it's an 80$ chair...minus labor. Technically I still need to paint it if I'm going to leave it outside, but it's fully constructed and sittable. Here are some pictures.
Definitely a lot of less

Database links are amazing little things that oracle provides. You can query a table on another database/server as if it were local. However, oracle doesn't always choose the best plan for executing queries across DB links.
The most common task you would want to perform across a DB link is to extract data from a remote database, and insert it into a local staging table. For example: INSE

Did I ever mention that I really resent being rejected by Carnegie Mellon University? There always seem to be cool things coming out of there. Like this. I want to be smart like that, heck, I'd just settle to hanging around smart people like that. I'm not sure how practical that project is (unless you're into making people "dissapear",) but they'

There was an all day company event at Dave & Busters on Friday. It was pretty boring, as usual they found a way to turn D&Bs awesome arcade room into a miserable experience. On the plus side, I won a raffle prize, which was really exciting because I never win those things. But then I opened it, and, well. Let's just say there were some primo prizes for computer nerds. 22" wide screen LCD monitors, iPods, digital
