2007 is turning out to be the worst year for sports that I can remember.

November is National Novel Writing Month. Has anyone participated before or planning to do it this year? The official site has been down the last two times I checked, so there must be a lot of participants this year!

Once in a while, a charity will solicit donations by sending flyers to the neighborhood announcing their pickup time. We usually donate old clothes, household items, and toys that the kids want to give to more needy children. Last night, we put three boxes of donations out on the driveway for pickup this morning. We taped the charity's card to the pile of boxes to mark them as donations.

One of the new features in the Facebook API is the ability to categorize a link you have as a "Networking" link. So now you can see your professional network of relationships as distinct from your personal firends. While the geek press is oohing and aahing it as an attempt by Facebook to wade into LinkedIn's waters, I say, so what? What's the big deal? The ability to categorize your networks w

Have you seen The Mom Song, sung to William Tell Overture? It's a condensed version of what a mother says during the day, and it's incredible, especially if you have kids.

I saw this gambling quiz on Bloomberg. Out of 16 possible points, I scored 6, and four of those (from question 4i and 4ii) were because I remembered the answer from a probability class I took in college. The only legitimate question I got right was #5, about football. And even then, I wasn't sure becaus

I saw this post that shows what the largest websites in the world run on. The OS, Web Server, and Database categories came out as I expected. Linux, Apache, and MySQL are proven open source packages known for being able to run "real" web sites. Heck, that's why people talk about the LAMP stack. I was somewhat surprised, however, with the "P" in LAM
