Quiz went okay, I think.... even if I still cannot for the life of me seem to remember the difference between GSF and GRK. :P I had all the same answers as Lauren (except for one), which is virtually always a good sign. Now I just need to not bomb the exam next week, and with any luck I'll never have to take this class again.
...I'm well aware that my blog hasn't been about much except school lately, bu

I can't believe these people expect us to remember the difference between PI(4,5)P2, PI(3,4)P2 and PI(3,5)P2. The only explanation for this is that the teachers hate us.

Okay, I'm a wreck. School sucks, and it sucks a lot, but it still doesn't suck enough to warrant how I'm feeling right now.
...On an unrelated note, I was biking back from the train station after school when someone stopped apparently for no reason whatsoever. This created a backup that blocked the bike path I was trying to turn onto. I impatiently waited for a little while, when this guy in an SUV (of

Holy Christ in heaven above, this lecture is so fucking boring, I've spent the last two hours honestly hating the professor for making us learn this excruciatingly dull and generally worthless horseshit on top of the 500 or so pages these cockmongers have assigned for the next test. I swear to god, if I hear one more fucking word about phospholipids I'm going to fucking kill somebody.

Over and over again I've heard the argument that the human body is too complex for it to be formed by accident, that the body itself is evidence for a creator. Now, logical fallacies of that statement aside, the more I study biology, the more convinced I become that either mankind evolved at random, or the god that created us was mad. Let me give you an example of what I mean.
Some of you may have heard

In the sentence:
"Binding van het hormoon aan de receptor vindt doorgaans plaats in het cytosol en veroorzaakt een zondanig conformatieverandering van het receptoreiwit dat accumulatie van het hormoonreceptor complex in de kern optreedt, alwaar de affiniteit voor DNA sterk wordt verhoogd."
...the word I didn't know was "alwaar". (Which apparently is not at all different from "waar", bringing i

I know I've been quiet lately, but really, everything is just school school school. And with that little status report out of the way, I'm going to talk about something no one besides me will care about:
EA buys Bioware for $860 million
Those with a peripheral interest in gaming will recognize Bioware as the arch

In yet another display of poor planning and bureaucratic inefficiency, the UvA has now released HALF of our grade for the last block. Irritation with the system aside, I got an 8.1 on that half of the test and I was fairly pleased. Until Lauren mentioned offhand that she'd pulled a 10.3 on the same test. (There was an optional assignment worth bonus points on the test, making it possible to score higher than 10.)

Ahhh, there's nothing like getting up at 7 in an attempt to learn (among many other things) how to spell N-aminoglucosamine before class. :P

Tijs and I were seized with the brilliant inspiration to make a run to the Albert Heijn early this morning for cheese, tapenade, French bread and some decent wine for lunch. We had an absolutely lovely meal on our porch, enjoying the fading summer weather, with music and conversation. *is happy* I haven't been this content in a while. :D
