So, blah blah, the 2006 blogocrasphere. Ned Lamont and SOaP and a not-very-reflective bit of Mylar on the cover of Time. You know what we really learned? Some people are very, very good in their area of expertise; and the web gives them a chance to bring their own little facet before the wider world. It helps if they can write.
On that note, here are two kick-ass pieces of blogger investigati

Well 2006 is drawing to a close, and I'd like to thank everybody for reading along and helping us celebrate this, the great International Year of Ibsen. Which, now that I think about it, we didn't actually do anything for. Jeez, the Norwegian Tourism Board is gonna have my ass. Okay, no problem, no problem, we just need to kind of lay down a back beat here... get some studio guys to loop "Ibsen, Ibsen, Ibsen" as a

"So the book's setup is, the author is a columnist and college professor with a middle-class upbringing, and she moves to rural Minnesota to try to make a living working at Walmart. And despite everything she can do, she just barely scrapes along; she's exhausted; she can't get any savings; and then she gets sick and can't afford the hospital care and has to give up the experiment.

No, Kelly [Sacker] isn't interested in the thing that you're selling. No, Kelly [Sacker] can't come to the phone. Because he/she is some kind of mythical hybrid that I invented for some long-forgotten piece of telemarketer-bait and named after my second-grade sweetheart. Yes, I'm sure.
Today, Kelly [Sacker] received a Christmas card. Two Christmas cards, in fact, from two different local addresses, bo

Two quick personal goings-on. As of Thursday, I'm switching apartment complexes, and going back to the previous one - with the larger rooms, less surly management, and fewer crazy yelling men. Looking forward.
Also, I sent out Christmas cards today. Now, I love Christmas and its little socks. I drink nog, I hum carols in the street, I follow the zen of gifting (Renzai school)*. But I always suck at se

In 1956, a fella named MacKinlay Kantor won the fiction Pulitzer for his Civil War novel "Andersonville". In 1961, Pulitzer clutched in fist, he wrote a slim volume called "If The South Had Won The Civil War". A bit back, your correspondent raised an eyebrow, passed the library staff a dollar, and, not un-smugly, went home with a nice little '63 paperback of said milestone in the alternohistoriographical field.

So, this is not about the new Doctor Who ep. "Love & Monsters", because the sum of my feelings about that'n is roughly: "Damn you, Great British Pantomime Tradition!". No, this about the tape that v_s and theszteve lent me, which also had a "Battlestar Galactica" ep that I had missed a month ago. It's called "Hero",
It turns out, via flashback, that Adm. Adama was actually partially
