It's been a while since I've last updated mostly because this has been the most INSANE summer. I packed up and moved down to sunny San Diego (and they're not kidding about the sunny part, I've 100% sunny days since I've been here). This is the month where it all begins. It's my last month in Norcal and I won't be living here again for a very long time, if ever. Every minute of every day for the next 25 days is going to continue to be an emotional rollercoaster. The days I teach at Sylvan can always go in any direction. I could get the distracted, chatty, I-had-a-bad-day type of student, or it could be the quiet, driven, asks-no-questions type of student. Most of you know by now that I quit my job at the market/restaurant. It was the best move I could have ever made. They had pushed me to the last straw and one morning I just walked out and never came back! Luckily, I was already working as a tutor at Sylvan learning center and they coincidentally needed me to come in more hours. Usually I don't make such rash decisions, but in this case, I'm glad I did.

I have decided, once and for all, that I am going to back to school to pursue either an M.S. or a Ph. D. in Chemistry! I'm applying to San Diego State's doctorate program and either San Jose State or SF State's Masters programs for this Fall. I am soooooooooooo excited I can't even begin to describe it. More later!

Some people find it sad that I've never been out of the country or own a passport for that matter. I don't feel sorry for myself at all because my life is just as eye-opening at my own house as I believe it would be across the Atlantic Ocean. So, I know it's been a really long time since I've lasted posted an entry (much to the disappointment of a certain mother). For some reason I got the silly idea in my head that time would slow down once I graduated and didn't have to juggle sports, work, and school. Now I'm sitting here wondering how nearly a year has passed since I was standing in Times Square in NYC bringing in a brand new year: 2006.

I'm settling into Lafayette really well so far. There are beautiful places for me to run and hike, and the town is great! I love my job! I'm never bored and all of my coworkers are super fantastic people! It's a slightly different environment than IV market, much faster-paced and more restaurant-oriented, but I'm learning a lot about everything. So, on Saturday I'm packing up the endless loads of stuff I own and moving OUT of my parents house, finally. I've only been here for 2 weeks, and I love my family dearly, but it's time to move on, get a couple jobs, and feel some sense of independence again.
